Sosa Takes Office in Tuineje, Replacing Candelaria Umpiérrez
The Town Hall of Tuineje celebrated on Tuesday, March 17, the swearing‑in of Guacimara Sosa as the new councilor of the governing coalition. She will head the following departments:
- Festivals
- Youth
- Transport
- Citizen Participation
According to the council, her appointment is intended to reinforce areas that have until now been managed on an interim basis by the mayor and other councilors, a situation complicated by a series of medical leaves within the governing group.
Sosa’s arrival comes weeks after the departure of former mayor Candelaria Umpiérrez, who resigned for personal reasons. The resignation was announced on January 27 and took effect at the plenary session on February 4, together with her decision to vacate her council seat.
Following that resignation, David Herrera assumed the mayoralty of Tuineje on behalf of Coalición Canaria, within the governing pact that this party maintains with the PSOE in the municipality.
“We welcome Guacimara Sosa and pledge the full support of the governing group as she begins this new phase,” the mayor said in the official statement.
Guacimara Sosa expressed gratitude for the reception and affirmed her readiness to start working for the municipality from day one, offering herself to citizens to address their most urgent demands and needs.
