Spain's AEMET

Exercise great caution tonight from Tuesday to Wednesday across the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote

The latest bulletin from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has upgraded the wind warning to an orange alert, indicating a significant danger, for the island of Fuerteventura early this morning. According to AEMET, gusts of up to 100 km/h are expected, generated by the second passage of a front associated with the Regina low‑pressure system.

In addition, an orange alert for coastal phenomena is also in effect. This early‑morning period could be especially hazardous for western‑facing coastal areas, where a high tidal coefficient will further exacerbate conditions.

“The storm is violent and may damage urban furniture, trees, and other structures,” the agency warned.

Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution throughout the night and into Wednesday morning, as the storm’s intensity poses a serious risk to property and safety.
