Spain's AESAN warns of Listeria in Italian Deluxe smoked salmon with

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an alert after detecting Listeria monocytogenes in a lot of Norwegian smoked salmon with pistachios, marketed under the “Deluxe” brand and originating from Italy. The notification comes from Italian authorities via the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).

The alert specifically concerns lot LC22606501, which carries an expiration date of 18 April of this year. The product is sold in 100‑gram plastic blister packs and is kept refrigerated. Initial distribution was limited to the Canary Islands, although redistribution to other autonomous communities cannot be ruled out.

AESAN has forwarded this information to the relevant regional authorities through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI) to ensure the removal of the affected products from the market. Consumers who have the product at home are advised not to consume it.

“If you have ingested any of these products and experience symptoms compatible with listeriosis—such as vomiting, diarrhea, or fever—seek medical attention immediately. Pregnant women should consult AESAN’s consumption guidelines for pregnancy, which include important food‑hygiene practices and a list of foods to avoid due to biological hazards like Listeria monocytogenes,” the agency warned.

AESAN also reiterated the need to strictly observe hygiene measures to prevent cross‑contamination with other foods.

Compagnia del Mare has apologized to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused. The affected units were sold exclusively in Lidl stores in the Canary Islands and have already been withdrawn from sale, the company explained.
