Storm Forces Fuerteventura to Keep Classes Online
The Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has established exceptional measures in response to the adverse weather forecast for the archipelago, which also affects Fuerteventura.
Although the island is not among the most affected on Thursday, March 19, it will still be included in the general measure adopted for the entire Canary Islands, meaning that on Friday, March 20, all teaching activities will be carried out remotely.
This decision follows the recommendations and preventive measures issued by the Department of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water, through the Directorate General of Emergencies and Civil Protection, with the aim of avoiding travel and ensuring the safety of the educational community amid a convergence of adverse weather phenomena, including wind, rain and rough seas.
The department has indicated that classes will be delivered online whenever technical conditions allow. In cases where this is not possible, teaching activities will be suspended.
Instructions have also been sent to schools to facilitate the continuity of instruction through digital tools, while recommending preventive measures in facilities, especially against possible wind or rain effects.
Authorities stress the importance of following official guidance and staying informed through the Canary Islands Government channels, as this weather episode evolves and will affect various islands in the coming days.
