Storm Weakens as Its Center Moves North
Strong winds are expected at midday on Friday, with occasional drizzle.
The low‑pressure system known as Francis, or Cathaysa as it is called in some island meteorological circles, has lost intensity while moving from west to east across the archipelago. While La Palma received abundant rainfall on January 1, the rest of the islands did not feel any significant precipitation until this Friday.
In Fuerteventura, the second arm of the storm is expected to bring a brief spell of rain on Friday, accompanied by strong south‑west winds around midday.
Rain During the Weekend
Forecast models continue to predict moderate rain throughout the weekend on the island, persisting on Saturday and Sunday. West‑ward winds and waves reaching up to 5 metres in height are also expected.
