Stranded after running out of fuel early morning in north Fuerteventura

The vessel had run out of fuel and was drifting towards the rocks.

A 10‑metre boat was rescued in the early hours of the morning by the Maritime Rescue Service after it ran out of fuel and began drifting dangerously toward the northern coast of Fuerteventura.

Rescue operations

  • The Maritime Rescue Service deployed the Salvamar Al Nair, based in Arrecife.
  • A Heliemer 215 helicopter was also sent to the scene.
  • A Civil Guard patrol boat joined the effort.

The situation was complicated by strong sea conditions, but the two crew members managed to evacuate the vessel when it grounded near Punta Tostón after a difficult maneuver. They were subsequently examined by civil protection personnel and were found to be in good health.
