Puerto del Rosario launches a new taxi service to guarantee a quality public offering: puertotaxi.com
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has approved a new Regulatory Ordinance for the Provision of Taxi Services, an innovative text that modernises and strengthens the management of this essential mobility service in the municipality. Continuing on the same line of work, it now unveils a new application (APP) that uses technology to make the service easier for users and professionals alike: puertotaxi.com.
The pioneering, 24‑hour system will allow real‑time monitoring of vehicle geolocation, optimise shift compliance and ensure that the service adequately covers the entire municipality, including strategic zones such as ports and airports. The app offers, among other features:
- Fare calculator
- Taxi map
- Various options to request a taxi
- FAQ section
- Taxi roster
“This app is a firm commitment to equip the city with a modern tool that improves service quality and guarantees equal opportunities among taxi professionals. With this step we are responding to a historic need, promoting more efficient, sustainable mobility that is close to the reality of residents and visitors,” said David de Vera, Mayor of Puerto del Rosario.
“This new option is the result of months of joint work with sector representatives, with advice from the Canary Islands Government’s Directorate General of Transport and specialised entities, so that professionals, associations and citizens can all benefit from this service,” highlighted Luis Chacón, Councilor for Transport.
The mayor also recalled that “during this legislative term we have already taken important steps such as awarding new PMR licences, updating fares after more than a decade without revisions, and resolving historic conflicts that hindered progress. Now we are consolidating a taxi service that meets the challenges of a modern, dynamic city.”
