Tech Park Seeks Public Input on Its Mission

The Technological Park of Fuerteventura (PTFSA) has launched an anonymous survey, in partnership with Murzilli Consulting and DroneTalks, to gather the opinions and priorities of island residents and workers regarding the development of sustainable aircraft technologies.

Survey to Gather Public Opinion

“Citizen participation is key to guaranteeing that these innovations adapt to the real needs of the island community,” the organizers emphasize.

Funding

The initiative is financed through:

  • Component 17 of the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by Next Generation EU via the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
  • Autonomous funds from the Canary Islands’ budget, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and the Canary Development Fund (FDCAN).

Canary Geo Innovation Program 2030

Centered on the Canary Stratoport for HAPS & UAS, located between Puerto del Rosario and Tetir, the program explores unmanned aircraft and low‑noise drones that use electric propulsion, with some units powered by solar energy and capable of staying aloft for days. The goal is to improve everyday life, protect the environment, and strengthen island security.

Potential Applications

  • Monitoring forest fires and enhancing emergency response.
  • Rapid delivery of medical supplies when roads are blocked.
  • Extending telephone and internet coverage to isolated areas.
  • Transporting equipment to remote communities.
  • Reliable deliveries to homes that are difficult to access.

Importance of Citizen Input

The entities behind the survey stress that listening to the public is essential for the project’s success. Each response helps shape a more connected, safe, and sustainable Fuerteventura. Residents are encouraged to share the initiative with family, friends, and neighbors.
