Stay well‑hydrated, avoid midday sun, and take special care if you have respiratory problems.

Forecast Overview

A dust haze (calima) is expected to persist across the Canary Islands on Sunday, especially over the mid‑altitudes and peaks of the more mountainous islands. Skies will be mostly clear, with only occasional mid‑ and high‑level cloud patches in the early hours. Weak showers and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out over the central islands.

Temperature Outlook

According to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET):

  • Temperatures may exceed 30 °C in the mid‑altitudes of Tenerife and throughout the eastern islands.
  • Localised peaks of 34 °C are possible in the interior and western parts of the eastern islands.

Wind and Rain

  • In low‑lying areas, winds will shift from light to moderate from the east, turning westward in the western zones by late afternoon.
  • Over the mountainous islands’ peaks and mid‑altitudes, winds will be moderate to strong from the south, with occasional very strong gusts.

Wider Spanish Impact

Atmospheric instability will continue on Sunday across mainland Spain, affecting the north and northeast. Temperatures are expected to rise above 30 °C in up to nine provincial capitals.

AEMET has issued a yellow storm warning for the regions of Aragon, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Navarre, the Basque Country and La Rioja from midday until 20:00, when the heaviest rain is likely to occur.
