The Canary Islands Government has begun the tender process for works to save energy at 40 public homes at La Oliva II. The homes are in the La Oliva council area on Fuerteventura.
The project has a base tender budget of €843,651.23. The Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), led by Pino de León, is managing the project through the regional Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility.
For residents, this is a step towards improving the buildings. It does not mark the start of building work. The report, published on 5 November 2026, gives no start date or timetable for completion. It also gives no details of the individual works planned.
Part of a 100-home island scheme
The works aim to help the buildings use energy more efficiently and improve living conditions for residents. They also aim to cut the buildings’ use of primary energy from sources that cannot be renewed.
The La Oliva II works are part of a joint tender process for 100 public homes across Fuerteventura. The contract is split into three lots. It covers the 40 homes in La Oliva and 50 in the Fabelo group in Puerto del Rosario. It also includes 10 homes in Valle Santa Inés, in Betancuria.
The combined contract has an estimated value of €2,378,453.67, excluding IGIC.
The La Oliva project falls under Programme 1, which supports building improvements across neighbourhoods. It is funded by European Next Generation EU funds.
