Terrifying fire on a ship in Arrecife
It concerns the facilities of a bus company.
A blaze that was reported around five p.m. broke out in a warehouse belonging to Lanzarote Bus, located in the Valterra industrial zone of Arrecife. The fire produced a thick black plume of smoke that could be seen from several points across the Lanzarote capital.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It started by affecting a bus inside the building. According to available information, most of the vehicles were removed, but at least three buses remained inside when the flames spread.
The Lanzarote Safety and Emergencies Consortium dispatched multiple fire trucks, which are working intensively to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent warehouses, given the combustible materials stored in such facilities.
The proximity of a gasoline station and a neighborhood health centre has heightened concerns, especially after several witnesses reported explosions near the fire. The dense smoke forced nearby residents to close doors and windows as a precaution.
Local police officers have cordoned off the area and are regulating traffic, while several streets in the Valterra neighbourhood remain blocked. Drivers are advised to avoid the vicinity until the situation is fully under control.
