A new strategic space to boost entrepreneurship, innovation and business digitalisation on the island
The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura, together with the director‑general of the INCYDE Foundation of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce, the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario and the director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), unveiled today the Sustainable and Digital Coworking Incubator 4.0 Fuerteventura. The initiative is co‑financed 85 % by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) and aims to strengthen entrepreneurship, innovation and digital transformation of the island’s business fabric.
The Coworking Sustainable and Digital Incubator 4.0 is conceived as a business incubator and innovation hub for entrepreneurs, SMEs and start‑ups. It will offer:
- Over 1,000 m² of modern facilities
- More than 50 workstations
- Dedicated coworking areas, meeting rooms and collaborative spaces
- A comprehensive programme of business‑support services, mentoring and digitalisation
“This project is a firm commitment to diversify Fuerteventura’s economy, reinforce the competitiveness of our SMEs and create a real ecosystem of innovation and talent on the island. It is not just a physical space, but an environment of opportunities to start and grow,” said Juan Jesús Rodríguez Marichal, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura.
“This coworking represents a real opportunity for local talent to have a place where they can grow, innovate and consolidate business projects without leaving the island. The City Council firmly believes that institutional collaboration is the key to generating opportunities. This project shows how, by joining forces between administrations and entities, modern initiatives aligned with digitalisation and sustainability challenges can be launched,” emphasized David de Vera, mayor of Puerto del Rosario.
“The coworking reinforces our commitment to bring innovation and digitalisation to Fuerteventura’s productive fabric, offering a support space for SMEs, start‑ups and entrepreneurs. From ACIISI we work so that European funds translate into qualified employment, business support and opportunities that allow talent to develop on the island,” noted Javier Franco Hormiga, director of ACIISI.
“The Business Incubator 4.0 of Fuerteventura is an example of the model we promote at INCYDE, aimed at turning European funds into real opportunities for the business fabric and quality jobs in the territory,” added Javier Collado Cortés, director‑general of the INCYDE Foundation.
“Collaboration between institutions enables us to support and strengthen the island’s business fabric, which is essential for our economic growth. We are doing this through a space backed by the Cabildo’s Economic Promotion and New Technologies areas, with investment in equipment that will be available to entrepreneurs and SMEs for developing innovative projects on the island,” highlighted Lola García, president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
The start of construction marks the birth of a space that aims to become a reference for innovation, digitalisation and entrepreneurship in Fuerteventura, contributing to a more competitive, sustainable business ecosystem and generating new economic and employment opportunities.
The “Sustainable and Digital Coworking Incubator 4.0 Fuerteventura” project is co‑financed 85 % by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the INCYDE Foundation, within the Spain Multi‑regional FEDER 2021‑2027 Programme for the Canary Islands (Priority P1A), which promotes a digital and smart transition. It falls under Specific Objective 1.3: “Strengthening sustainable growth and the competitiveness of SMEs and creating employment in them, also through productive investments.”
