This Friday: Wind and Earth

The dust arrives from the north driven by the rotating power of the low‑pressure system

The weather will be unsettled over the weekend, with strong winds, a choppy sea and a lot of dust. The low‑pressure system rotating to the northwest of Fuerteventura is currently sucking up suspended dust from the neighboring continent and will bring it from the north to the island of Fuerteventura.

It is expected to last about 36 hours, pushing the suspended dust over the islands. The situation should ease from Sunday onward, although northeast winds will continue to blow throughout the weekend.

Winds Calm on Sunday, Pick Up Again on Tuesday

Sunday will see a more normal, anticyclonic day, which will continue on Monday. However, on Tuesday the wind will return, this time from the northwest, with a chance of isolated drizzle across the island. Forecasts indicate that on Tuesday waves could reach up to 6 metres in height on the north and west coasts, accompanied by generally poor weather along the shoreline.
