Three youths rescued, a fourth still missing
A jet ski, a Civil Guard patrol boat and the GES rescue helicopter are currently on the scene.
Three of the four people who fell into the sea in the Los Charcones area of Yaiza have either been rescued or managed to get out on their own. The emergency alert was triggered at 3 p.m., warning that four foreign nationals were in distress in the zone.
All of them are young foreigners aged 19 to 21. According to the information released:
- Two of the youths disappeared after the incident.
- Two reached the shore on their own from the rocks, sustaining only minor injuries and refusing medical assistance.
- A third was rescued alive by the emergency‑rescue helicopter.
“Subsequently, the emergency and rescue group’s helicopter succeeded in rescuing a third person alive, while the search for a fourth, whose whereabouts remain unknown, is still ongoing,” reported Cadena Ser.
The incident occurred in an area that was closed to swimming due to an orange warning for strong swell in Lanzarote, with waves reaching up to six metres in height.
