Traditional Offering to Our Lady of La Peña Held
Pilgrims from every corner of Fuerteventura arrived at the Vega de Río Palmas to take part in the Fiestas en Honor a Nuestra Señora de La Peña. As is customary on the third weekend of September, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of La Peña hosted the traditional offering, featuring the institutional participation of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, six municipal councils, folk groups, and neighborhood associations.
The ceremony opened with a display by the Canary Federation of Palo (a traditional stick‑fighting game). The offering from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura was led by the island’s president, Lola García, and the Canary Islands Government’s tourism councilor, Jessica de León, accompanied by the Tetir Folk Group.
