Traslación Festival Debuts in Fuerteventura with Five Shows
Contemporary dance will have a special appointment in Fuerteventura with the inaugural island edition of the Traslación Festival, which will take place on Saturday, 27 September at 6 p.m. in the Juan Ismael Art Centre. Admission is free while seats last.
The festival, regarded as one of the leading platforms for movement arts in the Canary Islands, debuts on the island of Fuerteventura with five artistic proposals that connect territory, identity and creativity: Deloflamenco, Celeste Ayus, Abián Hernández, the Escuela de Danza Entre Siluetas, and the Colectivo Fragmentos.
The event, directed by Acerina H. Toledo and supported by Promotur Turismo de Canarias and the Cultural Department of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, aims to bring dance to new audiences and strengthen the link between artistic creation and the island environment.
Culture and Landscape in Motion
Since 2018, Traslación has taken dance to heritage and natural sites across the Canary Islands, blurring the line between stage and audience. This philosophy continues in the first Fuerteventura edition, where the selected pieces address sustainability, coexistence, and the relationship with the landscape.
The festival’s arrival on the island also offers a chance to showcase local talent, integrating Majorero companies into a circuit that connects creators from the archipelago with the regional and international cultural scene.
With this new edition, the Traslación Festival reaffirms its innovative character and its commitment to cultural decentralisation in the Canary Islands, turning Fuerteventura into a stage for contemporary dance and artistic exchange.
