Venezuela denounces US air strikes on Caracas and the states of Aragua and La Guaira
The Venezuelan government denounced on Saturday a series of air attacks carried out by the United States against “Venezuelan territory and population in civilian and military locations” in the capital, Caracas, and the states of Miranda (where the city is located), Aragua and La Guaira. The government condemned the actions as a grave military aggression against Venezuelan territory and civilians.
Anonymous White House sources, speaking on condition of anonymity to Fox News, confirmed that the U.S. military has indeed launched an operation on Venezuelan soil as a pressure tactic against President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
Maduro calls on citizens to defend the country
The government labeled the recorded explosions as a “grave military aggression” by the United States. The statement detailed that the explosions occurred in civilian and military sites across the states of Miranda, Aragua, La Guaira and the capital, Caracas. It ordered the deployment of the command for the integral defense of the nation, declared a state of emergency, and urged citizens to defend the country.
President Clavijo, concerned about the situation
“We are closely monitoring the situation that Venezuela is experiencing in the early hours of today. Throughout the night and the first hours of this day we have been in contact with the Canary Islands entities in the country and the delegation of the Government of the Canary Islands in Caracas,” said the President of the Canary Islands on his X account.
