Two weeks of intermittent outages in Costa Calma for FV‑603 paving
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura announces the rehabilitation of the former access road to the town, which includes paving, margin cleaning and removal of palm‑tree debris. The intermittent closures will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Roads Service, has begun paving and cleaning works on the FV‑603, the old access road to Costa Calma, with the aim of improving road safety and keeping the island’s road network in good condition. The works will last two weeks and will cause intermittent traffic interruptions between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with alternative routes provided for private vehicles. Public transport will maintain its usual routes and stops.
“These actions are necessary to keep the island road network in good condition in Fuerteventura,” said island president Lola García.
“Our roadmap for maintaining Fuerteventura’s road network improves safety behind the wheel and offers a tourist‑destination image with European‑standard infrastructure,” explained Roads Counselor Blas Acosta.
The paving covers the sections between kilometre points 0 – 3 and 6.8 – 7.1 of the FV‑603, encompassing both ends of the road as it passes through Costa Calma. The process includes:
- Application of surface‑regularisation layers
- Installation of a new wearing course
- Reinstatement of horizontal road markings and painted lines
- Placement of new cat’s‑eye reflectors
Simultaneously, Roads Service crews are cleaning the road margins and ditches, removing vegetation and dry palm leaves that have accumulated along the sides, to ensure greater safety and a cleaner appearance.
