Venezuela Won't Face Invasion If Delcy Rodríguez Does What We Want

Everything points to a post‑Chavista transition negotiated between the regime and President Trump.

The United States president, Donald Trump, has clarified that there will be no U.S. military presence in Venezuela if the country’s vice‑president, Delcy Rodríguez, “does what we want.”

Trump gave an interview to The New York Post after being asked about his statement that the United States would “take charge” of Venezuela following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, and specifically whether American troops would be deployed to help govern the country.

“No, if Maduro’s vice‑president… If the vice‑president does what we want we won’t have to do that,” Trump explained, adding that “we are prepared” to send troops.
“You know, we have a second wave that is much larger than the first,” he said, noting that “we have spoken with her many times and she understands.”

At this point, all signs point to a pacted solution with the vice‑president and senior officials of the Bolivarian regime who may have negotiated with the Trump administration for a clean exit of Maduro from power.

The U.S. refusal to rely on Corina Manchado and to respect Rodríguez’s authority creates a difficult scenario for anti‑Chavistas and further complicates the already precarious situation in the Caribbean nation.
