Vocational Training Across Fuerteventura with New Programs, Dual Degrees, and Zoned Offerings
New programs in agriculture, commerce, hospitality and socio‑cultural services expand training in high‑demand sectors, tailored to the reality of each island zone. The opening of the CIFP in Morro Jable this academic year has strengthened the island’s training network and reduced travel of more than one hundred kilometres for students in the south.
The Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, led by Poli Suárez, will expand the vocational‑training (FP) offer in Fuerteventura next year with new medium‑ and higher‑level courses, double degrees, adapted training itineraries and specialization courses. This update is part of the new island‑wide FP map, designed to match the real needs of each territory and allow students to study closer to home.
On an island where municipalities and population centres are far apart, planning the offer is especially crucial. The goal is to bring vocational training nearer to the island’s educational community, distribute courses more evenly across zones, and respond to professional profiles linked both to Fuerteventura’s productive fabric and to students’ aspirations.
In this context, the launch this year of the Integrated Vocational‑Training Centre (CIFP) in Morro Jable represents a decisive step for the south of the island, eliminating trips of over a hundred kilometres and improving equal opportunities for accessing these studies. The new centre, which began with courses from several professional families and more than a hundred students, meets a historic demand from the island’s educational community and reinforces the presence of FP across the territory, allowing the range and diversity of training cycles to increase.

These additions make Fuerteventura’s vocational‑training offer more diverse, territorially balanced and aligned with the specific needs of each zone.
The planned expansion in Fuerteventura is part of the sustained growth of vocational training in the Canary Islands, which already exceeds 47,600 students and aims to surpass 52,000 enrolments next academic year. Within this context, the island reinforces its strategic role in the area’s push—led by Poli Suárez—for a more accessible, island‑focused FP system that reflects the reality of every territory.
