Wizz Air operates in Fuerteventura, targeting 28% growth in the Canary Islands

Wizz Air drives its growth in Spain with a record capacity of 10 million seats, 28 % more in the Canary Islands

Wizz Air has announced an ambitious expansion plan for this year, offering a total of 10 million seats from Spain—a historic figure for the airline.

The carrier is focusing on accessibility and affordable fares for Spanish travelers, consolidating its destination network and territorial presence while reinforcing its commitment to the Canary Islands.

  • Currently operates from Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura, covering 15 routes to 10 destinations.
  • For 2025, it has surpassed one million seats offered to and from the islands, a 28 % increase over the previous year.
  • Since launching operations, the airline has carried more than 3.5 million passengers across the archipelago.

Between March 2025 and March 2026, Wizz Air added 35 new routes, linking 16 Spanish airports with destinations throughout Europe. Notable new connections include flights from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Seville to London Luton.

The airline also inaugurated new destinations such as Gdańsk and Skopje, expanding travel options for passengers.

This growth enabled Wizz Air to achieve its highest seat capacity ever on routes like Spain–Rome, where it now leads the market.

So far in 2025, Wizz Air has:

  • Operated more than 29,000 flights in Spain, 17.5 % more than the same period in 2024.
  • Transported 6.4 million passengers.
  • Recorded a 22.4 % year‑on‑year growth, with a reliability index of 99.8 % and a 16.6 % improvement in punctuality, underscoring its operational reliability.

Tickets for all routes are available for purchase on Wizz Air’s website and mobile app.
