Youth Talent Event Offers Trip to China as Grand Prize
During the event on Friday, May 15, about twenty young people participated in Fuerteventura in a new edition of “El Talentón,” an innovation, mentorship and teamwork activity aimed at developing projects with real growth potential.
Throughout the day, participants worked on creativity dynamics, specialized support and challenge‑solving. The final phase was scheduled for the same afternoon, when teams presented their proposals before a specialized jury.
The winning project will represent Fuerteventura in the regional final of “El Talentón,” to be held in La Palma, where it will compete with teams from other islands. The victorious initiative can claim a €1,500 prize to develop its minimum viable product, while the team that wins the regional final will undertake a training and innovation trip to China.
The 2026 edition introduces several novelties:
- Popular voting in the evaluation system.
- A final presentation before real investors.
- Strategic support prior to the regional final.
- Audiovisual production of the event, which will be part of the official “El Talentón” documentary broadcast on Televisión Canaria.
The initiative consolidates as one of the standout proposals in the Canary Islands to activate young talent, connecting participants with mentors, professionals and investors through a methodology based on creativity, gamification and solving real challenges.
The president of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Lola García, the councilor for Water, Education and Youth Adargoma Hernández, the councilor for Tourism and Employment of the Canary Islands Government Jéssica de León, and the director general of the Canary Employment Service María Teresa Ortega, welcomed the participants.
“El Talentón demonstrates the enormous potential of Fuerteventura’s youth when they have spaces, tools and support to develop their ideas,” said Lola García.
Adargoma Hernández noted that the project arrives in Fuerteventura for the second consecutive year and linked it to the II Island Youth Plan, within the youth‑talent promotion axis.
Jéssica de León affirmed that the Canary Islands Government and the Canary Employment Service are committed to programs that combine training, guidance and real opportunities to reduce youth unemployment.
María Teresa Ortega emphasized that these projects “not only foster creativity and talent, but also help reinforce the confidence of many young people who have good ideas.”
