Cabildo Boosts Blue Week Program and Nautical Activities with New Equipment
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Sports Department, has acquired new equipment aimed at improving the development of nautical activities, including the educational program ‘Blue Week’, a well‑established initiative within the island’s sports and training offerings.
The addition of this gear will enhance safety, quality and organization for marine‑related activities, and will also enable a better response to the various initiatives that promote nautical sports on the island.
“This action is part of the institution’s work line to strengthen educational, social and integrative sports programs, providing resources that expand and consolidate an accessible offer adapted to citizens’ needs,” explained Luis González, Sports Councilor of the Cabildo.
‘Blue Week’ Continues Its Tour Across the Island
The ‘Blue Week’ program is being carried out in several municipalities of Fuerteventura, involving around a thousand schoolchildren. Currently, the activity is taking place in Morro Jable, where it will run from 10 to 26 March, with participation from schools in the municipality of Pájara.
In this phase, three schools from the municipality are involved, with a total of 120 students taking part in various activities focused on marine environment awareness and introductory nautical sports.
The initiative aims to bring school‑age populations closer to the island’s maritime setting through educational experiences that promote sport participation, respect for nature, and the learning of values linked to teamwork and coexistence.
Institutional Collaboration
The Sports Department wishes to thank the Pájara City Council, the Club Náutico Península de Jandía, Puertos Canarios, and the Port Authority for their contributions that made the activity possible at the Morro Jable venue.
Once this stage concludes, the program will continue its island‑wide tour and will soon move to Puerto del Rosario.
The ‘Blue Week’ is part of the island’s sports strategy Sportura 25‑35, which encompasses various programs designed to improve the quality of life for Fuerteventura’s residents through sport, promoting healthy habits, social integration, and access to physical activity in all its forms.
