Canary Islands Allocate About €100 Million to Christmas Lottery

The average spend per resident this year is €47.24, well below the national average of €76.08.

Canary Islands will once again rank among the regions with the lowest betting volume in the Extraordinary Christmas Lottery, with a total stake exceeding €100 million and more than 525,000 tickets on sale.

  • The archipelago’s total contribution for the Christmas draw reaches €105,297,800, corresponding to 526,489 tickets, according to data from Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (LAE) reported by Europa Press.

  • This translates to an average expenditure of €47.24 per inhabitant, which is significantly lower than the national average of €76.08.

Provincial breakdown

  • Las Palmas: €45,658,800 in tickets, amounting to 228,294 tickets and €39.55 per resident.
  • Santa Cruz de Tenerife: €59,639,000 in tickets, amounting to 298,195 tickets and €55.51 per resident.

Sales evolution

In the previous Christmas draw (2024), sales in the Canary Islands rose to €121,808,560, a 6.64 % increase compared with the prior year. That edition saw 609,042 tickets sold, with an average spend of €55.32 per resident.

The Christmas Lottery distributes more than 30 million prizes. The most common awards are the reintegrations, which refund the amount wagered, and the well‑known “pedrea”, offering €1,000 per series and €100 per ticket.
