Canary Islands Government launches broad cultural and educational agenda in Fuerteventura for Canary Islands Day

The Government of the Canary Islands has unveiled a varied program of cultural, educational and traditional activities in Fuerteventura to mark the celebration of Canary Islands Day. The agenda, which will run throughout May, includes proposals related to performing arts, music, crafts, scientific outreach, traditional sports and activities aimed at different sectors of the population.

Performing Arts, Music and Tradition

  • May 8: The theatrical performance Con 7 estrellas verdes at the Insular Auditorium of Fuerteventura.
  • May 9: In Antigua, a Silbo Gomero workshop and the XXXVII Insular Craft Fair of Fuerteventura.
  • May 10: Concert by Olga Cerpa and Mestisay together with Los Sabandeños – “Balada de Sabanda” – sold out.
  • May 17: The Insular Auditorium hosts María Mérida, the Voice of an Island, honoring one of the most iconic voices of Canary music.
  • May 22: VI Edition of the Festival Between Two Cultures in Pájara.
  • May 31: Concert Toda una vida by singer Chago Melián.

Science, Seniors and Traditional Sports

  • May 26: The Fuerteventura Technology Park will hold the Mini Fair of Science and Innovation, targeting school audiences with workshops on drones, rockets and scientific outreach.
  • May 27: The Senior Center of Puerto del Rosario presents Parrandas en la Memoria, an activity dedicated to older adults.
  • May 28: A day of traditional sports for schoolchildren at the Youth Hostel of Tefía.

With this agenda, the Government of the Canary Islands aims to highlight the archipelago’s cultural identity, heritage and traditions through activities designed for diverse audiences across the municipalities of Fuerteventura.
