EAF opens its doors to help schools awaken their artistic side

The Escuela de Arte Fuerteventura once again showcased its educational offer to prospective students during a new edition of its Open Day. Students from the centre demonstrated their skills to future classmates in workshops on animation, photography, advertising, engraving, ephemeral architecture, and decoration.

Around 150 secondary‑school (ESO) and high‑school (Bachillerato) students experienced first‑hand the training programmes of the Escuela de Arte Fuerteventura, a centre that provides professional education in visual arts and design through official titles in animation, audiovisuals, photography, advertising, various design fields, ephemeral architecture, and decoration.

The enrollment slogan for the upcoming academic year (open from 9 to 24 April) – “Find your place in art” – reflects the creative and collaborative atmosphere that the majorero institutes discovered during this Friday’s Open Days.

Faculty and students at the EAF engaged visitors in the skills taught at the school via a series of practical workshops and activities linked to the centre’s curriculum, the school explained in a statement.

“These days allow us to ‘connect’ with future classmates, so that the students who visit can ‘awaken that artistic side they surely have, but perhaps still don’t know in which discipline to develop it’,” said the school’s vice‑director, Milagros Moreno.

Institutional Visit

Students from the schools Santo Tomás de Aquino, San Diego de Alcalá, Sagrado Corazón, Puerto Cabra, and IES Puerto del Rosario rotated through the creative workshops of each cycle. Also present were EAF director Romina Hernández, Cabildo Youth Counselor Adargoma Hernández, and Island Director of Education Yurena Pérez.

From a “First Dates” Set to Traditional Engraving, Through Fashion Magazines

One of the most striking activities this year was a chroma‑key production set, where the Graphic Audiovisual cycle recreated scenarios inspired by the TV program First Dates. The Graphic Advertising workshop offered photography sessions that placed the young visitors on the covers of fashion magazines.

Other workshops let the institutes experiment with 3‑D animation, create portrait photography, explore ephemeral architecture projects, practice calcographic engraving and traditional printing techniques, and work with the multimedia tools of the Interactive cycle.
