Volotea halts April flights to Fuerteventura over fuel costs from Asturias
The Illegal War of Israel and the United States in Iran Begins to Hit Island Tourism
Volotea is cancelling several flights that linked Asturias Airport with the Canary Islands for the month of April, after Easter, because of the sharply rising price of fuel.
- To date the airline has withdrawn a number of frequencies between 11 April and 18 April, affecting routes to Canary Islands destinations such as Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Lanzarote, Tenerife, as well as Mallorca.
- Approximately 2,000 passengers are impacted, including travelers from the Mariña region who use Avilés Airport as their main gateway, located about an hour from Eastern Mariña.
The cancellations affect both outbound and return journeys, according to the RTPA. Volotea attributes the suspensions to the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East and the sharp short‑term increase in fuel prices.
Passengers affected by the cancellations can re‑book their flights at no additional cost or request a full refund, the airline confirms.
