Guisguey–Puerto del Rosario Section to Open Before Summer
Councillor Pablo Rodríguez says the stretch to the airport will be completed by early 2027
The Public Works Councillor of the Canary Islands government announced today in Fuerteventura that the highway segment from Guisguey to Puerto del Rosario, at the Tetir roundabout, could be operational before the summer season.
“The highway segment from Guisguey to Puerto del Rosario could be operational before summer,” said Councillor Pablo Rodríguez.
He added that the continuation of the road to the airport is expected to be finished by early 2027, an infrastructure project long awaited by the capital municipality due to the traffic difficulties it has caused.
Rodríguez also indicated that, in the coming weeks, the tender for the Airport–Pozo Negro section will be resolved. This work, valued at €215 million, is one of the most important projects on Fuerteventura’s North‑South Axis.
The new road is intended to relieve the heavy traffic volume in the area, especially between the town of El Matorral and Las Salinas del Carmen, which records the highest number of vehicles on the island.
