Hotel Fariones (Lanzarote) Named Best Resort in Spain and Portugal at the TUI Global Hotel Awards

Hotel Fariones, located on the island of Lanzarote, has been crowned the best hotel in Spain and Portugal at the 2026 TUI Global Hotel Awards. The awards recognize hotels that delivered the finest experiences to more than 20 million TUI guests worldwide, across a total of 22 categories.

Lifetime Achievement Honored

TUI Group also presented the 2026 Professional Career Award to Abel Matutes Tur, founder and president of Sirenis Hotels & Resorts, acknowledging over five decades of contribution to the tourism and hospitality sector.

The gala took place on Monday in Berlin, Germany. The award on behalf of the Spanish hotelier was received by his son, Abel Matutes, who thanked the organization in his father’s name and highlighted the group’s long‑standing commitment to excellence, innovation, and respect for the destinations where it operates.

TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel lauded Abel Matutes Tur as “a benchmark of Mediterranean hospitality.”
