Majorero donkey stars at Feaga
The 38th edition of Feaga hosted the inaugural Morphological Competition for the Majorero Donkey, one of the event’s headline novelties. The contest was made possible through the collaboration of the Association for the Conservation and Promotion of the Majorero Donkey.
Award winners
- Male category: Tofio (Tiscamanita) owned by Doramas Santana.
- Female category: Niebla, owned by Francisco Bordón (Villaverde).
- Second prize: Jandía, also owned by Doramas Santana.
During the competition, each animal underwent a detailed morphological assessment, evaluating traits such as the distinctive dorsal stripe, the “cruzaditas” markings on the legs, overall height, and other breed‑specific criteria.
The regional ‘SOO’ Majorero Donkey Association of Fuerteventura continues its vital work in preserving this native breed, which remains a cornerstone of Fuerteventura’s cultural heritage.
