Man Arrested for Marijuana Grow in Squatted Home in Pájara
National Police agents from the Puerto del Rosario Local Police Station in Fuerteventura arrested a man after discovering an indoor marijuana grow operation inside an occupied dwelling in the municipality of Pájara.
The investigation began at the end of December 2025, when authorities received information suggesting the presence of a cannabis cultivation inside the property. During the preliminary checks, officers noted the absence of an electricity supply contract with the utility company Endesa, raising suspicions of illegal electricity use.
A judicial authorization was obtained, allowing the Drug Unit, supported by the Operational Response Group, to enter and search the premises. The raid resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 34 marijuana plants
- 54.5 g of hashish
- €150 in cash
The suspect was taken into custody on charges of drug trafficking (a crime against public health) and electricity fraud. He has been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority together with the investigative files.
“The operation was carried out after confirming several indicators compatible with illicit drug cultivation and the likely illegal consumption of electricity,” the National Police stated in a press release.
