Playa Blanca Port in Lanzarote to Welcome Boutique Cruises Starting November 2026

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has positively evaluated the inauguration of Playa Blanca port for boutique cruise operations beginning in November 2026, after fulfilling all required technical and administrative conditions.

“I am satisfied that the port infrastructure has already received the green light from the Maritime Captaincy,” said Oswaldo Betancort, President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. He added that the first vessel—207 metres in length—will dock in the last quarter of the year.

Port approval and upcoming operations

  • The Maritime Captaincy has granted formal approval for the port’s new facilities.
  • The first boutique cruise ship, measuring 207 m, is scheduled to arrive in the final quarter of 2026.
  • The port’s remodeling has been completed, making it ready for immediate cruise operations.

Strategic importance

  • Betancort highlighted that Playa Blanca is a key infrastructure that expands Lanzarote’s capacity to attract a high‑quality, differentiated visitor profile.
  • The port will not only serve boutique cruises but also accommodate megayachts and luxury vessels, solidifying its role as a strategic hub within the Canary Islands’ autonomous port network.
  • The development results from coordinated efforts between the Government of the Canary Islands and Turismo Lanzarote, fulfilling a long‑awaited project.

Economic impact

  • The initiative aligns with a broader plan to diversify the island’s tourism offer and generate economic activity linked to the nautical sector.
  • Playa Blanca port currently handles approximately 800,000 passengers annually in regular traffic, positioning it as one of the island’s principal port facilities.

The launch of boutique cruise services at Playa Blanca marks a significant step toward enhancing Lanzarote’s tourism profile and maritime economy.
