Shopping frenzy erupts with Archipelago Consumption Vouchers

All 97,918 Archipelago Consumption Vouchers put on sale this Tuesday across the Canary Islands sold out within a few hours. A virtual queue of more than 26,000 people was waiting just minutes before the vouchers became available, and many users grew impatient amid the flood of requests.

Immediate redemption
Once acquired, many users were able to redeem the vouchers on the spot at any of the more than 2,500 participating establishments throughout the archipelago, according to a statement from the regional government. Consumers can continue to use the vouchers until each merchant reaches its €5,000 limit, and businesses may keep joining the scheme until the campaign ends on June 28.

Program financing
The initiative is funded by the Canary Islands Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self‑Employed and managed in collaboration with the four Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands. It involves a total investment of €3 million and is expected to inject nearly €5 million into the local commercial sector.

Voucher cost and value

  • Consumers pay €25 per voucher.
  • The face value of each voucher is €50, with the consumer covering half and the Canary Islands government financing the other half through the Chambers of Commerce.

Distribution by island (all sold out)

  • Tenerife: 35,988 vouchers
  • La Palma: 5,245 vouchers
  • La Gomera: 3,453 vouchers
  • El Hierro: 2,952 vouchers
  • Gran Canaria: 35,456 vouchers
  • Lanzarote: 8,195 vouchers
  • Fuerteventura: 6,629 vouchers

Each voucher, worth €50, can be used by consumers until the merchant’s €5,000 allocation is exhausted, after which the establishment can no longer accept further vouchers. The scheme aims to boost local commerce while offering residents a double‑value purchasing power.
