Tampering with a manhole in Villaverde cuts water to part of the neighborhood

The CAAF requests neighbourhood cooperation to identify who is tampering with the installation

During the morning of Friday, another incident occurred involving the manipulation of a manhole in the CAAF water‑supply network in the locality of Villaverde.

The agency reported that “a manhole appeared on El Molino Street and its valve was tampered with, leaving a residence in Villaverde without water in that network zone.”

“Locks and seals have been broken. We again ask for neighbourhood help: if you see any unidentified person tampering with that manhole, please report it,” the CAAF explained on its social media channels.

“The person responsible is causing a serious problem, not only in that area but also more broadly, by shutting down water distribution there.”

Pressure differences leading to failures

It is worth noting that work is currently underway on Villaverde’s distribution network to improve supply in areas that still experience problems. This week, new zones have been connected to the distribution system planned by the CAAF.

The project includes the installation of 900 metres of secondary pipe with a 160 mm diameter, as well as the construction of five sectorisation and regulation manholes and two connection manholes that will link the new primary network to the existing distribution infrastructure serving Villaverde.

“In fact, this has caused some network failures as pressure increased in certain zones, but those issues have now been resolved,” CAAF sources said.
